My FUNKY Cookie Story...
I was the girl that got a bad grade in home economics class in high school, but I loved watching my grandfather use his special mixer around the holidays to make food for our huge family. After I got married and had kids, my desire to bake didn't really take off until a Valentine's Day night when my kids wanted to make cookies! In the middle of making the dough, my handheld mixer started smoking and my kids got worried that meant no cookies! Thankfully, my oldest son Mason remembered about the old mixer that I got from my mom when my grandfather died. The same mixer that I would watch him use and he would let me help use to make all of his holiday staples! This mixer was heavy, but Mason managed to carry it up from the basement and after we cleaned out all of the cobwebs we used it for the very first batch of Dawn's Cookies!!! They were simple but tasted delicious and my kids loved being a part of the process! I took some to the school I taught at the next day and my friends loved them and the birth of Dawn's Cookies happened when one of my coworkers asked me to make cookies for an Easter party she was having for her family. I went on to make cookies almost every night of the week for years! In 2011, I felt God calling me in a new direction which blessed us more financially so that I could make cookies just because I wanted to and not because I had to anymore for money. Since then I've been making cookies to glorify God and bless others! I've made cookies for teachers, and church groups, and fundraisers and many occasions over the last 10 years as random acts of kindness to point people closer to Jesus. A few years ago, I felt God nudging me to start an online cookie community to teach others how to make these delicious cookies while also raising awareness and supporting women in need with breast implant illness! It's been so rewarding seeing others grow in their cookie baking skills and bless others with their cookies!! I hope you will consider joining and become a blessing baker too!!
